Union Serves Strike Notice

CATCA CAW Local 5454 has officially served notice on NAV Canada that it will take strike action on Wednesday, July 20, 2005.

The way was cleared to serve strike notice by a quick decision by the CIRB on the Minister of Labour’s application of last Monday.

The contract committee was summoned to Ottawa on Saturday morning. Offers have been exchanged, and modified. Discussions are continuing. At the same time, the Union has made it crystal clear that further delays are not an option. We have a very limited legal right to strike, and failing a settlement before Wednesday, we will use it.

Meanwhile, normal union discipline must be maintained. Instructions will be communicated through branch representatives. No member should take any job action of any kind except in accordance with these instructions.
