CATCA Scholarship Program
The CATCA/CAW Local 5454 Scholarship Award has been established to provide financial assistance to sons and daughters of active members of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association in the pursuit of post-secondary education. Click on tab to see details. |
The "Scholarship Award Program" sponsored by CATCA provides financial assistance to sons or daughters of active members of the Union who are in pursuit of full-time post-secondary education and who are not currently Active Members of CATCA.
Two, two-thousand dollars ($2000) scholarships will be awarded annually to the winning students, who will be selected by an independent committee composed of recognized academic and professional representatives.
The program is open to sons and daughters of Active Members who are in good standing. Eligible students must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary educational program. Applicants will be required to submit a personal resume, signed letters of recommendation from at least two sources (not family members) who are familiar with their abilities and performance records, an official transcript of academic achievements including an explanation of the marking system used from a high school, college or university, proof of registration from attending institution, as well as the following two papers:
- 150-200 words outlining what their personal contributions to society have been, and
- 150-200 words outlining what contributions they intend to make to society during their adult life.

All completed applications, transcripts, recommendations, records and other supporting documents must be submitted to the National Office before August 31 of each year at 304 – 265 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 2E1. All applications will have personal identification removed and be forwarded to the Selection Committee who will select the winners. The winners will be notified and their name will be published on the CATCA website.

The scholarships are renewable annually to a maximum of four (4) years upon proof of enrollment and payment.
To renew your scholarship, in June of each academic year, a letter is sent to recipients of the CATCA/CAW Local 5454 scholarship requiring the following:
- proof of registration for the upcoming academic year
- an official transcript of grades showing successful completion of the previous year, including an explanation of the marking system used
Upon receipt of the above in the National Office, your scholarship award cheque for the upcoming academic year will be issued.
